Located in Northern Orange County, California, Fullerton was once an agricultural center capable of producing large amounts of citrus fruit, specifically Valencia oranges, as well as walnuts and avocados. The warm, climate is ideal for citrus growth, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-40s in the winter months to the mid-80s in the summer months.
Fullerton, CA History
The area was first discovered by Europeans in 1769 when Gaspar de Portola led a Spanish expedition through the area on their way to Monterey. In 1837, the Fullerton area was given to Juan Pacifico Ontiveros and became a part of the Rancho San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana. Juan Ontiveros was a Spanish soldier. He began selling off parts of the Rancho to Americans moving west after the 1849 Golf Rush, including the area that is now Fullerton.
1886 the Amerige brothers, George and Edward Amerige, purchased the land around Fullerton. The brothers then approached the California Central Railroad, a subsidiary of the Santa Fe Railroad, about including the area in their survey for the railroad's proposed path through Southern California. The Amerige brothers offered the railroad a half interest in the land if the railroad survey would include passing through their proposed town site. The railroad jumped at the chance for a free right of way through the area, and the town of Fullerton was born.
Agricultural Development in Fullerton
In 1894 a descendant of “Johnny Appleseed,” Charles Chapman, purchased land in the eastern part of Fullerton and began the first orange orchard in the area. He grew the Valencia variety of oranges, which were well suited to the climate in the area. In just a few years, Fullerton could lay claim to more orange groves than any other town in the U.S. The area was also well suited for growing avocados and walnuts, and the agrarian economy of the area flourished.
The Industrialization of Fullerton, CA
Following the Great Depression, the Fullerton area economy shifted from growing food to processing food. And, the first ever Hawaiian Punch recipe was invented in Fullerton by three men in a converted garage.
Birthplace Of The Electric Guitar

Though Fender never learned to play the guitar himself, his contributions to the world of music led to his being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.

What Is Domestic Violence?
Domestic Violence is the term used to describe altercations and violence, or threats of violence, between people who have or have had a romantic relationship. This could mean an argument or altercation between you and a spouse, former spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, or someone with whom you have a child.
The law in California defines domestic violence as using physical force or making threats against an intimate partner. An intimate partner is anyone with whom you have or have had a romantic relationship and includes same-sex relationships. Situations which might be charged as battery in a non-relationship altercation will instead be charged with the more serious crime of domestic violence or domestic abuse if a relationship can be established between the parties.
California Penal Code, Section 13700
Domestic Violence is defined as “abuse committed against an adult or fully emancipated minor who is a spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, r person with whom the suspect has had a child or is having or has had a dating or engagement relationship.” (California Penal Code, Section 13700)
The definition of abuse can include:
- Physical Abuse

- Sexual Abuse

- Coercion
- Harassment
- Economic control
- threats and intimidation
- Destruction of Property

Corporal Injury Of A Spouse Or Cohabitant
While corporal injury seems like something that happens in school, like having your fingers rapped in school or a spanking in the principles office, this is not what is being called “Corporal Injury of a Spouse or Cohabitant” in a formal legal charge related to domestic violence.
Corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant is defined by California law as “willfully inflicting a physical injury that causes a 'traumatic condition' on an intimate partner.” Let's define a few of these terms, to understand better what could be considered corporal injury.
Who Qualifies as an Intimate Partner?

- A Former Cohabitant (someone you used to live with)
- A Boyfriend (including same-sex boyfriends)
