No Job Bail Bonds

Posted on Jan 5th, 2022 by developer 2515 Views

If you are ever in a situation where you need to post bail, and have no job, then you first need to understand that most people can appeal the amount of bail that has been set. You can appear before the judge again and if you do this, you may be able to win your appeal. You may also be able to get the bail reduced if you have been accused of a non-violent crime or if you can prove that you are not a flight risk. That being said, appealing bail takes time and if you don’t have a job, you may wonder if there are other ways for you to get the bail money you need.

How is Bail Set with No Job?

If you have never been to jail before then you may not be aware of how bail is set. A judge will consider a lot of different factors when it comes to setting your bail amount. This could include your criminal record, if you have one and also how serious the crime is. You also have the possibility of the defendant fleeing. If you have shown this kind of behavior in the past then this will of course, influence the price you pay. You will also have additional money added on if you are deemed to be a risk to the community.

Working with a Bondsman while unemployed

It is a very common thought that if you want to work with a bondsman, you need to be able to pay the fee upfront. This is not always the case though. Some bondsmen will work with you to make sure that you have a friend, or a family member post the bond for you.  A payment plan can also be created, but even in this instance, you may need to leave some collateral behind. Compared to bail, you should know that a bond fee is generally really low. Usually, the bond fee will be around 10% of the bail price. If you do not qualify for a payment plan by yourself then getting a co-signer may be a good option. A co-signer that has very good credit may well be able to qualify you for a payment plan, but you will probably need to make a good down payment. If you want to find out more about bail bonds for the unemployed then take a look below.

Bail Bonds for the Unemployed

If you do not have a job, then you may feel stuck for options. It doesn’t have to be this way though. In fact, it is more than possible for you to get the bail bond you need without having to put down any money at all. You just need to make sure that you have some collateral that can be used to secure your return, or you can have someone co-sign the bond for you. There are some requirements that you will need to meet for this, so make sure that you keep this in mind.

Co-Signers

If you are able to find someone, whether it is a friend or even a relative to be the co-signer for your bond, then you don’t need to be employed in order to access the service. You do however need to make sure that the person who is co-signing can provide proof of income. Ultimately though, as long as they are employed and as long as they earn enough to cover the total bond amount, then they will be qualified enough to co-sign for you. The co-signer will then be legally liable for any amount if you should skip your hearing or if you disobey your court order. For this reason, you need to make sure that they are fully informed before you sign the agreement.

Collateral

If you are not able to find someone qualified enough to post your bail for you then it may be possible for you to secure a bail bond by simply using personal collateral. Personal property, whether it is a mortgage deed, a credit card payment or even a vehicle title can be used instead of cash to secure a bond. That being said, you will have to pay a set fee for the bail bond as well. The bondsman will hold onto the collateral, and this will be returned to you when you appear for your court hearing. Of course, if you do not appear, then the bondsman will keep hold of your collateral.

What Collateral Can be used For a Bail Bond?

Anything that you own, if you are not making any kind of finance payment on it, can be used for collateral if it has enough value. It’s important to know that arrestees will normally put up things such as real estate, stocks, electronics, vehicles or even jewelry. If you want to proceed with this option, then we can help you to find out what the best collateral is for your case.
